What gets cleaned, and why it matters
An air exchanger, also called an HRV (heat recovery ventilator), brings fresh outdoor air into your home and sends stale air out. On the way through, a part called the core passes warmth from the outgoing air to the incoming air, so you aren't heating fresh air from scratch all winter.
Over time, dust and debris build up in the ducts, the fans and the core. A clogged air exchanger moves less air and wastes the heat it's meant to save, and the air in your home starts to feel stale.
What an HRV or air exchanger cleaning includes
- Supply and exhaust ducts
- Intake and exhaust points, where air enters and leaves the house
- Both fans
- The heat-exchange core
- Filters, cleaned or replaced

In the HRM, it's a flat fee of $450 for up to 16 vents, and $15 for each vent beyond that. Bundle any two systems for $650. Add a dryer vent cleaning to any job for $25.
